GUIDING STUDENTS ON THEIR RESEARCH-BASED PROJECTS!
Hello friends,
Today, I will talk about the last task I've created with my peer Simay for this course. The task is about creating a research-based project for students. There are two options for creating this project. The first one is WebQuest, and the second one is Nearpod.
Initially, we wanted to use WebQuest because it looked simpler and because it has been around for ages. So, we thought it must be fun and easy to use. It did not turn out that way. We could not even find out how can somebody create a WebQuest. There were options like creating from scratch and using someone else's template but neither worked out for us. The layout of the website looked outdated anyways. The last news on the website is from 2015, and they are celebrating the 20th birthday of WebQuest. We then went on to try Nearpod. It looked modern and fun to use. It also had options to create polls, quizzes, and so on. We decided on using Nearpod and began our project. This process of dealing with WebQuest was harder than creating a project on Nearpod. Our project is about superhero(ine)s. Students will be a superhero(ine) and take an introductory video of themselves, and send it to a journalist so that they can be world-wide known. After that, they become a journalist and agree to create a poster about the superhero(ine) on Canva.
I loved creating this task. And I believe I would love to receive such an assignment from my teacher if I was a student. I will definitely make sure to involve my students in such a process in the future. Please have a look at our project from here.
